Hi! This is Iago. I’m a professional pianist, composer and conductor. Also a teacher with more than 15 years of experience. Once I finished my Bachelor on Piano Performance, I moved to the Netherlands to study a master in music composition and some further training in conducting. I just can’t stop my curiosity for learning more and more about music!
For the last few years, I’ve been teaching mainly in Amsterdam and online. Until last summer 2022, I was also the Piano Teacher and Head of Education in the Historic Conservatory of Santiago de Compostela. Now I´m teaching here at the Muziekcentrum Zuidoost!
My way of teaching changes a lot depending on the student’s interests and skills. That’s important to keep in mind! I’ve taught students with a “professional-goal” mind who got accepted in the universities they wanted, but also spent countless times making music games, so my students could learn and improve their skills by having plenty of fun.
I give my lessons a humanist approach: we’ll learn about piano, about composition… But also about all other topics that might have an impact in our learning process (from music theory to taking care of our health).
The lessons are available in English and Spanish. Hoping to add Dutch and Chinese soon to this list!
I’m currently available on Mondays, and potentially on Wednesdays.
There is always a free 30 minutes trial lesson during which we get to know each other as teacher and student, and also discuss how to proceed from that moment on. The fees are based on weekly individual lessons per student:
30 minutes per week = 30€/lesson
45 minutes per week = 37.5€/lesson
1 hour per week = 45€/lesson
Are you bringing a friend with you? Then you get 2 lessons for free!
You can also apply for a subsidy from the Jeugdfonds Cultuur.
Would you like to know what other students thing about my lessons?
“Iago was my piano teacher when he was only 22 years old and, without a doubt, he was the best teacher I have ever had.
Actually, I wasn’t very motivated in my teens, but he believed I could play whatever I put my mind to. He was able to inspire me, showing me many different musical styles, as well as composers (such as Debussy or Stravinsky). Doing this, I found the type of music that I wanted to play, that I like the most and that I can’t stop listening to.”

“Iago is a very good tutor – he is patient and understanding when I was struggling! His method of teaching is easy to understand and fun. I highly recommend him!”

“In my 40s and with a pending will to learn piano, I find myself with this great professional and even better person. Thank you for the huge patience and for the love for the music that you transmit. Great pianist and teacher. Hats off!”
